Great Britain appoints new ambassador in Morocco

London - Karen Elizabeth Betts was appointed British new ambassador to Morocco, the foreign office announced on Tuesday.

Mrs Karen Betts, presently advisor at GB's embassy in Washington DC, will also serve as her country's non-resident ambassador in Mauritania, , says the source. 

The British diplomat, who joined the foreign office in 2001, said she is very honored by this appointment and expressed will to endeavor for the consolidation of dialog and cooperation bonds with Morocco. 

She has also served as national security advisor and held positions at the British embassy in Bagdad and at the UK's permanent representation at the European Union. 

The outgoing ambassador is Mr Clive Alderton who has held this position since December 2012.
