Gabon-Morocco: signing of six cooperation agreements

HM King Mohammed VI and the President of the Republic of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba chaired on Tuesday in Libreville, the signing of six agreements on bilateral cooperation.

The first to be signed was  a cooperation agreement in the field of Health, signed by Mr. El Houcine Ouardi, Minister of Health and his Gabonese counterpart, Mr. Leon N'Zouba.

Under this agreement, the Kingdom of Morocco supports the health sector in Gabon, including the development of the National Institute Gabonese training, health and social services (INFASS), and provides technical assistance for management of health services and epidemiology.

Morocco will also make available to the Gabonese an annual quota in medical school in favour of medical personnel in specialties of their choice.

The second agreement, signed by Mr El Ouardi and Mr N'Zouba, focuses on a partnership agreement on the training of health personnel in INFASS, which provides an accompaniment to this establishment by the Career Training Institute of Health in Rabat.

This agreement also aims to strengthen the collaboration between the two institutes in the field of training, exchange of experiences and the development of joint projects in research and care.

There is also an agreement on cooperation in civil protection, especially in the prevention and management of major risks that pose a serious threat to the security of people, property and the environment.

The agreement, signed by the Minister of Interior, Mr. Charki Draiss and the Gabonese Minister of the Interior, Public Security, Immigration and decentralisation, Jean François Ndongou establishes a material cooperation  for ,among other things, the fight against anthropogenic disasters such as pollution, accidents or fires in facilities classified for environmental protection, public schools and receiving high-rise buildings.

The fourth agreement is a protocol for cooperation in technical fraud and laboratories, signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Marine Fisheries, Aziz Akhannouch and the Gabonese Minister of Economy, employment and sustainable development, Luc Oyoubi.

This agreement provides for the creation of a Moroccan-Gabonese sectoral committee which willl meet alternately in Rabat and Libreville every two years and support programs and cooperation activities in the area.

It will allow collaboration between the official laboratory  analysis and research for chemicals and laboratories of Casablanca  and the Quality Control for  Libreville and between the Directorate of Plant Protection of the technical controlland the repression of fraud and the Gabon branch for competition and consumption.

There is also an agreement authorizing issuance FM Radio Méditerranée International (RMI) in the Republic of Gabon. It was signed by Mr. Hassan Khiyar, President and CEO of RMI, and Mr. Blaise Louembé, Minister of the digital economy, communication and position.

The two sides finally signed an agreement establishing a framework for strategic partnership in the areas of technology and information systems. This agreement was signed by Mr. Mohamed Rachidi Bashir, President and CEO of the Company Involys and Mrs. Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda, Minister of Budget, Public Accounts and the Civil Service, in charge of the state.

These agreements, which are likely to give a strong impetus to the partnership between Morocco and Gabon, illustrate the commitment of the King and President Bongo to stimulate and strengthen cooperation between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples .

The ceremony was attended, among others, HH Prince Moulay Ismail and Cherif Moulay Abdallah.

Were also present Sovereign Advisors, Mr. and Mrs. Zoulikha Nasri Fouad Ali El Himma and the Moroccan official delegation and members of the Gabonese government.
