Paris - Morocco expressed "political will" to support Morocco in organizing the 2nd global summit of local and regional leaders, scheduled next October 1-4 in Rabat.

French development minister Pascal Canfin, stressed the importance of holding the international encounter in Africa as it helps promote decentralization which is key for efficiency and stability in several countries of the continent.
The French official also hoped for a large participation of local elected officials, stressing that climate change is one of the key issues that need to be addressed.
The Rabat summit, to coincide with the 4th world congress of united cities and local governments, will bring together local and regional leaders from over one hundred countries, in addition to international organizations, participants from the public and private sectors, finance institutions and the civil society.
Debates will focus on concrete answers to the world problems of city management, including improving life quality and new development models.
