The controversy swells in France after new revelations about the Merah case. Two journalists from the L'Express newspaper investigated the killings in March in Toulouse and Montauban, and concentrated particularly on how the police and French intelligence handled the matter.
France and the Merah affair: 100 days later, the conspiracy theory appears.
In the book 'The Merah Affair: the investigation', to be published  14 June, they highlight the many gray areas of the case. Why  was Mohamed Merah, who was watched, not arrested before committing seven murders? How, given the resources deployed, did the final assault against his apartment go so badly?

From 2006 to 2010, Mohamed Merah is associated with terrorism, under constant surveillance. Yet for two years, vigilance was, it seems, lax. In November 2011, Merah was interrogated by intelligence services on his return from Pakistan.

Investigators do not see anything coming in Toulouse and the young man quietly continued to develop his projects. Queries were also numerous about the walk lasting several hours performed by Merah outside his apartment when he was  being besieged, just before the onslaught of the security forces' (the RAID )according to the Algerian newpaper El Watan.

Another disturbing fact, investigators found the in the killer's scooter the calling card of a bodyguard of Nicolas Sarkozy. The person, who has worked for twenty years with the Presidential Security Group says  "it  came from the clouds" and recalls that he and his colleagues often distribute their business cards when traveling.

No conclusions can be drawn at this stage, but it tends to revive the idea of a conspiracy.

The new interior minister, Manuel Valls, asked for a report o investigate the flaws  in theservices, judges handling the Merah case have called for the lifting of military secrecy on the notes of the Central Directorate of Internal Intelligence (DCRI).

Meanwhile, we know a little more about the intervention of RAID and trade between the police and Merah. An officer noted the  the most outstanding statements of the trapped young man: "I have not killed enough" "I support Al Qaeda", "I am committed to integrate with battle groups", "I am going to Pakistan this summer "" I decided to stay in France, "" I went to Algeria, Iraq, Syria, "and  " I am the messenger of Allah, I fight for Allah."
