Five more suspected terrorists arrested at In Amenas. number of hostages killed now 48.

The Algerian authorities announced that five suspected terrrorists were arrested at the In Amenas gas plant with another three still in hiding a day after they had announced that all 32 terrorists had been killed the day before. They reported that 23 hostages of different nationalities were dead but the death toll is likely to rise.

"Five terrorists were found still alive this morning," said the private Ennahar TV channel, quoted by AFP news agency.At least 25 bodies were found at the site which have now all been identified as hostages bringing the  number of hostages killed to 48 according to official reports.

Three British hostages are confirmed dead with three more unaccounted for. The list of missing includes10 Japenese and eight Norwegians.

 APS said 685 Algerian workers and 107 out of 132 foreigners working at the plant had been freed, citing interior ministry figures.

Sahara Media has revealed that  it received another video from Mokhtar Belmokhtar saying he was prepared to negotiate with Algeria and the West provided the intervention was halted. Algeria the United States have bothsaid that they will not negotiate with terrorists.

French Defence Minister  Jean-Yves Le Drian  described the hostage taking as an act of war. British  Prime Minister David Cameron said that the problem of terrorism in north Africa was a global concern which required a global solution which could take some years to achieve.

Youcef Yousoufi Algeria's energy minister said to APS that it was out of the question for foreign security services to guard Algeria's oil and gas fields and Algeria had sufficient means to boost security.
