Federation of Women's Rights Leagues: 240 Calls to Report Violence since Beginning of Confinement

Rabat - The Federation of Women's Rights Leagues (FLDF) announced that from March 16 to April 24, it received 240 telephone calls from 230 women from different regions of the Kingdom to report acts of violence during confinement.

The Federation said in a statement that, in terms of monitoring violence against women, a total of 541 acts of violence had been reported against women, pointing out that psychological violence represented the highest rate with 48.2 per cent, followed by economic violence with 33 per cent and physical violence with over 12 per cent, in addition to some cases of sexual violence.

According to data collected, noted the Federation, domestic violence accounts for 91.7% of all forms of violence during health confinement, followed by family violence (4.4%).

In the same context, the Federation has provided, through the Injad network against gender-based violence during this period, a total of 492 services divided into listening, counselling and psychological support, in addition to guidance, intervention, coordination and cooperation with various institutional and other actors, in order to empower women through a number of services, including shelter, in addition to the launch of several regional and national awareness-raising and solidarity campaigns.
