Fears of imminent floods in Algeria and Tunisia

There are fears of heavy rain and possible snow in Algeria and Tunisia according to reports recalling the stormsof December last year.

The Algerian Civil Protection department raised alarm over an imminent disaster if expected rains turn into floods in western and center of Algeria, according to Civil Protection General Director.“ The Civil Protection department sent a telegraph on Sunday to all provincial departments to get mobilized to face any emergency,” Colonel Mustapha Lahbiri told Echorouk.
 
“We received a special forecast bulletin from the National Metrological Office saying heavy rains will pour on some provinces in west and center of Algeria. Snow will fall on heights in El Bayedh, Naama and Bechar,” he added.

Meanwhile in Tunisia the public expressed concern about a coming storm noting higher temperatures than
usual as was the case in December last year .The  Tunisian National Institute of Meteorology said that this wouldnot be a tropical storm but was normal fort this time of year.Intensity is probably more important in some parts of North-West, North and those of the Sahel, including Bizerte, Beja, Jendouba, Kef, Greater Tunis, Nabeul, Zaghouan, Kairouan where it is likely  to record a cumulative rainfall exceeding 40 mm.

The wind could be powerful enough as reach 70 km / h and probably 80km / h in coastal areas, with a rough sea.As for temperatures, there will be a significant dropfrom a maximum of between 14 and 18 ° C in the western regions and between 20 and 24 ° C in the rest of the country, TAP reported.
