European Parliament: president of fisheries committee underlines importance of geographical indications agreement with Morocco

Brussels - President of the fisheries committee at the European parliament Alain Cadec underlined the importance of the agreement with Morocco on geographical indications.

This agreement seeks to protect geographical indications. It is important to improve bilateral exchanges, said the Euro-deputy recently in a speech during a debate on the said agreement within the fisheries committee at the European parliament.

I am happy about the success of talks and fully support this agreement which mirrors the excellent relations between the EU and Morocco, he added.

The agreement, inked last January, puts emphasis on quality in the food chain and sustainable rural development, he said, adding that it provides for the protection by Morocco of the EU's geographical indications list.
