Egypt crisis: Clashes in Cairo continue
Pro Morsi Muslim Brotherhood supporters attacked the anti Morsi faction near the Presidential palace who fled the scene according to AFP.

The great fear has been that the Islamists and secular protestors would clash and the situation could get out of control. The two sides were separated by  central security forces,Al Ahram reported.

In a joint news conference, Mohamed ElBaradei, Amr Moussa and other leading figures of the opposition
National Rescue Front said they held Mr Morsi fully responsible for the violence.

Mohammed ElBaradei is demanding the draft of the constitution be scrapped and the creation of a legislature that is more representative of the population and not overwhelmingly Islamist. In a Financial Times op-ed, ElBaradei warned of the “risk of an eruption into violence and chaos that will destroy the fabric of Egyptian society.” The Medialine reported.

Vice-President Mahmoud Mekki has said a referendum on the draft will go ahead on 15 December despite the unrest. But in an effort at conciliation he said that the 'door for dialogue' would remain open but the gulf between the two sides seems insurmountable. Egypt's tumultous political process continues.
