ECA to hold 29th meeting of Intergovernmental Committee of Experts March 4-6 in Rabat

Rabat - The UN North Africa Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) will hold its 29th session of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts (ICE), on March 4-6 2014 in Rabat. This session will be held under the motto "The industrialization for sustainable and inclusive development in North Africa," in view of the forthcoming Conference of African Ministers in charge of Development, which will discuss the same issue in African, said a statement from the UN ECA.

The issue's importance stems from the fact that "industrialization has become a prerequisite for the structural transformation of African economies," notes the ECA, adding that the meeting aims to analyze the recent developments and trends in social and economic conditions in the region. The recommendations will be submitted to the ICE's7th joint meeting of the Conference of Ministers of Economy and Finance of the African Union and the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development of ECA.
