Djerba: Nida Tounès interrupts its meeting after the invasion of the room by protesters
The Nida Tounès  movement interrupted its meeting on Saturday in a hotel in Djerba, due to the invasion of the meeting room by protesters.

The demonstrators cut the power in the room and surrounded the entrances of the hotel causing panic among more than a thousand participants at the meeting of Nida Tounès, the TAP correspondent reported.

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the hotel chanting slogans demanding the departure of Beji Caid Essebsi and the cancellation of the meeting he was chairing.

In a statement to TAP news agency, Ridha Belhaj, executive director of Nida Tounès, accused the authorities of complicity with the protesters and charged to the Ministry of the Interior is responsible for these incidents. It did not implement the security measures necessary to protect the meeting, especially since the party was asked to step up police presence after traffic on social networks calls to sabotage the meeting , he said.

For his part, Khemaies Ksila, member of the Executive of Nida Tounès accused the League of Protection of the Revolution of preventing the holding of the meeting with the complicity, according to him, of the office of Ennahdha in Djerba which had launched a  hostile campaignn aganst Nida Tounès in anticipation of the meeting.

Ksila said the Ministry of Interior was unable to maintain security stressing that such excesses threaten peace in the country. He expressed his doubts about the elections in such conditions.

This meeting has started, for a short period of time, without the presence of Caid Essebsi, with a menu of music and poetry. The President of the High Political Committee of the Republican Party, Ahmed Nejib Chebbi, gave a speech in which he expressed the willingness of his party with Nida Tounès form a broad coalition national endeavor, first, for the fixing the date of the next election.

He added that consultations will be conducted with the Popular Front for joining the coalition stressed the need to unify the ranks of the democratic parties so that they can contribute effectively to the elections.

Roadmap and social truce

Hamadi Jebali's proposal- is it feasible?

During the presentation of the 2013 budget, Hamadi Jebali, Head of the Provisional Government outlined the key points of development indicators, while calling on the political level, a new sketch for the next elections. He suggested the parliamentary elections in late June 2013 if the beginning of July for the presidential elections at the end of the year. Is this feasible? In the same vein, he invited the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) a social truce, until the introduction of the next Government. Remains whether the Trade Union is arranged what concerns to lend an ear and desire access to the Head of Government. On the other hand, it is also useful to know whether the conditions for such a truce could be met?  Did the speech  lived up to expectations? On one party to another, even if opinions differ pessimism dominates.

Slaheddine Jourchi:

"The country has a great need for the establishment of dialogue mechanisms which are effective and operational "

The political commentator, Slaheddine Jourchi, believes that "the discourse of Hamadi Jebali can be considered as balanced. He tried to clarify issues relating to the economic and social situation and the general situation in the country. Firstly, the speech did not go beyond the framework expected of a head of government. It is limited to certain expectations that everyone wants answers. He bypassed the invective avoiding attacking others or confused by justifications. He did not blame a malfunction of part of the previous Government to government action or opposition. He tried to avoid confrontation with anyone. He tried to be reassuring, at least partially, when asked to accelerate the development of the Constitution and proposed a roadmap. However, the speech did not respond to some outstanding issues. He tried to convince Tunisians that the general situation in the country is reassuring, unlike the general feeling among the majority of citizens. In addition, the speech contained an invitation to observe a social truce that I consider legitimate. It does not set the conditions or advanced the necessary guarantees for compliance. In my opinion the truce is a vital need and also imperative for the country and the economy. As a Tunisian citizen, I hope that the promises and the indicators are realised. Promises and ambitions are one thing. The reality requires drastic measures and is something else. Finally, there is something that I expected and was not in the speech: finding a mechanism of dialogue and openness of the Government and the opposition forces of civil society. The country has a great need for the establishment of mechanisms for dialogue effective and operational. "

Yassine Brahim:

"We apprehend the scenario  like a sea serpent"

Executive Secretary of the Republican Party, Yassine Brahim sceptical about the agenda proposed by Hamadi Jebali. He says: "We have always demanded that the elections be held as soon as possible. Rather it is the better for the country. To organise at this time, it will require radically changing the way of working within the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) to vote several laws already regret behind. The Constitution also experiencing delays. With 171 articles, if we do not change the method of work, delys will comtimue.

The date of June will not be realistic. In addition, we are surprised by the progress of the election. If we move towards the separation of the two elections, presidential and legislative, it is best to start with the presidential elections. It is a classical logic. It is more realistic to start with before the presidential summer with his voting in two rounds. The electoral law for president is easier to develop. We understand the scenario sea serpent is advance a date and then a few months before, we see that this is not feasible.

We must first see the appointment of members of the ISIE no more time to lose, so there is no technical problems. As for the social truce, I think it was acquired on December 4. The problem is that the ruling party has any broken by what he has done the same day in the afternoon. Any Government may have disagreements with the union. In a revolutionary context, it is preferable to have the union on its side than against you. The year 2013 will be very difficult economically and for social development. Somehow, this social truce is necessary for us to successfully conclude the transition. Today what happened did not help things. We need everyone  to sit around the same table to discuss the terms of the truce. "

Mohsen Marzouk:

"I prefer a single agenda which is fixed by consensus"

Leading member Nida Tounès, Mohsen Marzouk, can not make this story proposals for changing agendas. He said: "A week before uttering the speech to the ANC, Hamadi Jebali spoke of presidential elections in June, with a second round in July. The legislation would be held in June Then, to retract thereafter. I prefer a single agenda which is fixed by consensus. In addition, it takes the ISIE must make its calculations. The proposed date will hearth adopted by the ANC. As for the social truce, it is proposed Moncef Marzouki. The Government has only to speak with the UGTT. It should start by dissolving committees called for the protection of the Revolution. The UGTT will examine the topic later. Do not do populism. It should be a truce social and political. "

Jilani Hammami:

"We talk of June, just as a cover for putting back  the elections later "

Spokesman for the Workers' Party, Jilani Hammami, is not surprised by the content of the speech  of Hamadi Jebali. He said: "Regarding the budget speech it did not surprise me. We have already seen the draft economic budget. We believe that the next budget will be a copy of the 2012 budget, the Government away from slogans to fight against poverty and to stem the crisis. All indicators remain at their previous level, whatever level of debt, the budget deficit and inflation. The deficit is around 7%, inflation at 5.5%. In the economic aspect, the project does not bode well. Listening Hamadi Jebali, it was believed Mohamed Ghannouchi currently presenting the budget in 2007 or 2008. On the political level, the speech remained in generalities. Nothing specific to the escalation of violence and the grip of the ruling on the workings of the state. On the agenda is always the same maneuver again. Hamadi Jebali, knows very well that elections can be held in June, with the delays accumulated by Ennahdha and the Troika and the adoption of necessary laws. We talk about next June, just as a cover for the elections to be delayed till the end of 2013, if not early 2014. "
