Diplomat Highlights in Washington Morocco's Strategy in Risk Management

Washington - Morocco's ambassador to the US, Rachad Bouhlal, highlighted, here Wednesday, Morocco's efforts and policies in the field of disaster and risk management and their impact on sustainable development.

"Recognizing the importance of the impact of risk management on sustainable development, Morocco has implemented, over the last years, a series of specific approaches and mechanisms", such as the national plan for disaster management, Bouhlal saod at the 5th high-level forum organized by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The diplomat also noted that the Moroccan approach in risk and disaster management is distinguished by the involvement of the private sector through effective public-private partnership, noting that the goal is to increase the level of awareness and engage more partners in these efforts.

Bouhlal underlined during this meeting, hosted by the US State Department and the US Department of Homeland Security, that Morocco has established risk management institutions, notably the National Centre for Scientific and Technical Research and the Royal Centre for Remote Sensing.
