Dakhla: 12 fishermen with H1N1 influenza reported.

The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that twelve cases of H1N1 have been reported among fishermen in Dakhla, referring to the death of a person aged 40.

"The medical services of the Regional Directorate of Health Oued Ed-Dahab-Lagouira notified  8 February, 2013 twelve cases of ILI in fishermen, including one case of  the death of a person aged 40, known carrier of a chronic disease, "said a ministry statement, adding that the other patients" show no signs of gravity. "

According to the same source, "a medical team was deployed on the fishing boat docking in the port of Dakhla, to assess the situation and make the recommended therapeutic and prophylactic measures."

Samples were taken from all patients and sent to the laboratory for confirmatory diagnosis, adding that the results of virological analyses have shown that this is a seasonal influenza A (H1N1), usually observed at this season.

"As a precautionary measure and although reported cases do not raise concerns, the Ministry of Health activated its alert system and advised its health facilities for the establishment of means of support suspects," said the ministry that has mobilized the reference laboratory for the identification of circulating viruses.

It should also be noted that after the declaration of the end of the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) in August 2010, the statement said, the WHO announced that this new H1N1 virus is expected to continue for many years and that cases and outbreaks due to this virus should continue to occur as seasonal flu.
