A spy Algerian sacked by MI5, said he was the victim of attempted murder, perpetrated against him by the Palestinian-Jordanian Islamist leader, Omar Mahmoud Othman, aka Abu Qatada.

 

Hassaine Reda said, according to a report by Britain's Daily Star, that Abu Qatada personally witnessed a beating which the Algerian spy suffered committed by the bodyguards of the Islamist in question , who ordered his men to finish the Algerian agent.

 

Abu Qatada, the newspaper reported, is accused by the Algerian, of having ordered the murder after discovering he was charged by the MI5 to spy on a mosque in Finsbury Park, London.

 

Hassaine Reda said he would lodge a complaint against the Islamist leader and he wrote to the British government asking for the sum of 40,000 pounds sterling, to help cover the costs of his court case against Abu Qatada.

 

The newspaper also reported that the Algerian ex-spy, had already filed a complaint against MI5 demanding payment of a million sterling, reproaching it for having failed in its duty of protection as an ex-service agent of the service.
