In Morocco, counterfeiting is estimated between 6 and 12 billion dirhams (535 million between and billion), or 0.7% to 1.3% of GDP.

The first study of its kind carried out in the framework of activities of the National Committee for Industrial Property and Anti (Conpiac) shows that the textile, clothing and leather, automotive spare parts, electrical equipment (switches, circuit breakers ...) , hygiene products and cosmetics sectors are more exposed according to the website Econostrum.

Counterfeiting also generates annual tax loss of almost one billion dirhams and the loss of almost 30,000 jobs in the formal sector.
 

Counterfeit products are mostly imported from China, but Morocco is also a producer of counterfeits, especially for textile and leather bags.

The business daily l'Economiste notes that Moroccan petrol suppliers have lost  30-35% of their turnover in eastern Morocco due  to counterfeit  Algerian petrol imports.
