Clinton calls on Africa to follow the democractic route
Hilary Clinton called on African countries to embrace democracy with responsible powers who are "a model of sustainable partnership that adds value, rather than extracts it from Africa. "

She emphasised the need to observe human rights saying that' Violent extremism, transnational crime and rampant corruption all threaten democracy."
Without mentioning China by name, she maintained that unlike other countries, "America will stand up for democracy and universal human rights even when it might be easier or more profitable to look the other way, to keep the resources flowing."
America has criticised China heavily for ignoring human rights and environmental issues in Africa and failing to provide added value for the countries it trades with. The battle for the African market place is hotting up between China and America as Africa is seen as a growth market for the future.
Last month China promised to provide $20 billion in loans to Africa.
