Mr. El Otmani is taking part in the ministerial conference slated for Wednesday afternoon on the development of peaceful resolution of disputes between countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary General of the UN said that the Peace Palace has become "the epicenter of international justice."

Since the Peace Palace opened its doors in The Hague, "it has become a worldwide symbol of peace and justice. Every day, thousands of people work in this impressive building and its surroundings for a safer and a more just world within 160 international organizations such as the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration, " the event organizers said.

Bernard Bot, President of the Carnegie Foundation (owner and manager of the Peace Palace), stressed that the celebration of the centenary should not just linger on the progress made in a century, but rather continue to work for a better world, where conflicts are solved peacefully."
