Brussels: international experts denounce silence on rights abuses in Tindouf
The essential problem of human rights in the region is located in the Tindouf camps in which prevails a disturbing code of silence, said academic Christophe Boutin, vice-president of the Association for the promotion of fundamental freedoms in a meeting on the situation of human rights in the Sahara, organized at the European Parliament.

Highlighting the growing tensions in Tindouf camps, the law professor said he was surprised by the speed with the situation in these camps is silenced, despite the requests of Human Rights NGOs, and also by the silence of some associations always prompt to denounce alleged violations elsewhere.

It is well known that Algeria, which hosts the Tindouf camps, is now the only country in North Africa that systematically blocks visits by human rights NGOs, while the latter go freely and regularly in other countries in the region, said Christophe Boutin.
