British Philanthropist Mme EVE Branson receives Royal Wissam

London - British philanthropist Mme Eve Branson, mother of famous businessman Richard Branson, received on Tuesday a Royal Wissam with the rank of officer, granted to her by HM King Mohammed VI in recognition of her humanitarian actions in Morocco.

The Royal Wissam, Morocco's highest distinction, was presented to Mme Branson by Morocco's Ambassador to the UK Lalla Joumala during a special ceremony in London attended by diplomats, civil society activists, renowned businessmen and other dignitaries.

On this occasion, Lalla Joumala praised the qualities of Branson and her long-standing friendship with Morocco.

Lalla Joumala lauded the charitable actions led by Mme Branson, mentioning in this regard the actions led by an association that was named after her.

Mme Eve Branson showed an exemplary generosity and an unwavering commitment to improve the living conditions of women and young girls in the Atlas Mountains, said Morocco's Ambassador.

Lalla Joumala also highlighted the contribution of Mme Branson in fostering friendship ties between Morocco and the UK through her humanitarian actions in Morocco.

Speaking on the same occasion, Mme Branson said she was "very honoured" to receive such a Royal distinction.

She voiced hope to see the projects she launched in Morocco extended to other regions while lauding the "very strong" relations between Morocco and the UK.

The Eve Branson Foundation works to improve the lives of women and young girls in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco through access to business, education and health care.
