Marrakech - The Moroccan football team beat, Saturday in Marrakech, its Gambian counterpart by 2 goals to 0 in the fifth and penultimate round (group C) as part of African qualifiers to the World Cup 2014.

Setting the goal of catching up with Côte d'Ivoire which has 10 points up to the fourth round, The Atlas Lions started the game offensively to score as many goals as possible. They managed to reach the net as early as the third minute through Abdelaziz Berrada.

Five minutes into the second half, the Lions doubled the score thanks to Younes Belhanda who received a pass from Berrada, the best player of the game along with goalkeeper Mohammed Amsif.

Deespite the victory, the Moroccan team's performance was not convincing as usual. The Gambian team was so close to score on many occasions, and even missed a peanalty in the second half.

With this victory, the Moroccan squad garnered a total of eight points behind Côte d'Ivoire which plays Tanzania on Sunday, with every chance to secure qualification well ahead of the last round.
