Bouteflika presidency may be extended to 2016-Echorouk
The unoffcial suggestion is meant to offer a compromise if President Bouteflika decides torun for afourth term in the
2014 presidential elections. The aim would be to postpone the elections until 2016 whichwould meanhe would serve two more years as president.

Echorouk also writes that the post of vice president may be created and that this could be occupied by rthe current Prime Miinister, Abdelmalek Sellal in 2016 if he does not run for the office of president .

The difficulty may be the lack of an obvious successor to President Bouteflika. Ahmed Ouyahia who has resigned as Secretary General of the RND party with many in the party turning against him and Abdelaziz Belkhadem at the FLN is also underfire from many FLN party members. Both parties which formed the bass of the ruling coalition are experiencing internal conflicts. Echorouk suggests Ahmed Ouyahia may become Algeria's ambassdor to France.
