Bosch quits the Desertec project in Morocco

The giant solar project Desertec in Morocco can no longer count among its participants the German industrial group Bosch which has abandoned the project due to a more difficult economic situation, according to the statement of the spokesman of the group, on Tuesday .

"We decided not to extend our participation" which will stop the end of December, said the spokesman of the Bosch Group, confirming press reports published in the German newspaper Financial Times Deutschland.
 
"Due to the difficult economic situation, we froze all our interests, and decided not toextend our participation with  Desertec  next year," added the spokesman.
 
It is the second  company after the withdrawal of the German conglomerate Siemens which also announced in October its intention to leave the project, planning to liquidate all of its activities related to solar energy.
 
The Desertec project, which includes 21 companies and 36 partners, including France, Germany and Italy, aims to build a site in Morocco with an electricity generation capacity of 500 megawatts, about half of modern nuclear power plant, from solar and wind energy.
