Benkirane meets with CEO of MCC in New York

New York - Head of Government, Abdelilah Benkirane, held talks, Thursday in New York, with CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Daniel Yohannes.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of a conference on "Economic Transition in Africa: opportunities for private investment" at the invitation of the Chairman and CEO of MCC.

The conference, which was attended by Presidents of Mozambique, Armando Guebuza, and Tanzania , Jakaya Kikwete, and the Prime Minister of Lesotho, Thomas Thabane discussed ways to encourage the private investment benefiting primarily from investments of MCC and the U.S. government in the countries targeted by the Millennium Challenge Account ( MCA ) program.

Participants highlighted priority and promising development areas to promote private investment in developing countries and to identify measures that governments and investors should take to encourage investment.

The head of government stressed Morocco's assets, and the measures taken by the Government of His Majesty the King to improve the investment climate.

The MCA- Morocco program was signed by Morocco and the Millennium Challenge Corporation in 2007 in Tetouan, under the chairmanship of King Mohammed VI. The funding provided to the Kingdom by the MCC amounted to 697.5 million U.S. dollars.
