Ban Ki-Moon to Asilah Moussem: much remains to be done to achieve MDGs

Asilah - 500 days ahead of the deadline for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), there remains much to be done in light of the global results achieved and for the elaboration of the post-2015 development agenda, said UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in a message to a conference Tuesday on "Sustainable Development in Difficult Times: Role of multilateral organizations" held on the sidelines of the Asilah Moussem.

"500 days ahead of the deadline for the achievement of the MDGs and notwithstanding our significant efforts, much remains to be done in light of the global results but also for the elaboration of the post-2015 development agenda", Ban Ki-Moon said in his the message read on his behalf by the secretary general of the Asilah Forum Foundation, Mohamed Benaissa.

Concerning dangers of climate change, UN Secretary General urged a legally binding agreement on climate change to be concluded by 2015.

Ban said he had invited leaders from around the world to a climate summit which will take place on September 23 in New York.
