Azoulay at UNESCO : Morocco has been able to add the diversity of its cultures and spiritualities

Paris - The idea of ​​a world has rarely been foreign to the Moroccan society which has had the talent to feed itself for centuries with the diversity of civilisations, cultures and spiritualities that have converged in Paris said André Azoulay, Adviser King and President of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures.

Speaking in the great amphitheater of UNESCO alongside Bulent Arinc, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey and Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, Azoulay  highlighted the proactive approach of Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI to deepen and register in the national consensus of  identity that has withstood archaic dizziness and turned its back on the reluctance by summing all his stories as  so many settled in a logic of fracture and withdrawal.

At the initiative of the great Bahcesehir University in Istanbul, Turkey and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation met in Paris during the last weekend with hundreds of personalities to debate common roots that unite our cultures and religions.

I am grateful in this regard for inviting me to this prestigious forum to witness the realities and historical underpinning  of social and philosophical modernity of my country, said the Advisor to the King stressing the decisive step taken by Morocco in July 2011 with the adoption of the new constitution which emphasizes in its preamble the historical contributions of the Amazigh Jewish Hassani and Andalusiacivilisations

Also speaking during the evening were Ms. Yasmina Benguigui, French Minister for la Francophonie and international lawyer Samuel Pisar, UNESCO Special Envoy for Holocaust Education.
