Attijariwafa Bank, PayPal launch AttijariPayPal

Marrakech - Morocco's Attijariwafa Bank and Paypal, the world's leading online payment platform, launched Friday in Marrakech AttijariPayPal service, a partnership that would allow Moroccan traders to repatriate funds from their PayPal accounts to their Attijari account in dirhams or other currencies.

The new service announced on the sidelines of the 5th Global Entrepreneurship Summit (2014 GES) in Marrakesh and first of its kind in the Maghreb region will contribute to the development of e-commerce in Morocco.



Speaking on this occasion, Ismail Douiri, director of finance and technology pole at Attijari welcomed this partnership, saying that the new service aims to boost growth of international e-commerce and help Moroccan SMEs to develop international business activities.



"Our exclusive partnership with PayPal allows Moroccan traders and start-ups to have access safely to their funds in their PayPal accounts," he added.



For his part, PayPal regional director for MENA and Turkey region Kivanc Onan said AttijariPayPal will give a new impetus to e-commerce in Morocco.



"One the biggest challenges traders face is to be paid quickly", he noted, adding that the partnership with Attijariwafa bank is a step forward that would help e-traders, startups and small business to address these challenges and develop their online activities.
