Arab League SG Meets with SG of General Union of Arab Women, Moroccan Fatna Daanoun
Cairo - Secretary general of the Arab League Ahmed Abou al-Gheït held talks, on Monday in Cairo, with secretary general of the General Union of Arab Women, Moroccan Fatna Daanoun, on ways to strengthen the empowerment of Arab women. During this meeting, Aboul Gheit stressed the importance of fostering cooperation between the two institutions to provide the necessary support to Arab women in the context of regional and international mutations that affect their situation.
He praised the role played by the General Union of Arab Women in the service of the causes of Arab women. For her part, Daanoun highlighted the support that the Arab League is bringing to the Union to broaden the scope of its action. Fatna Daanoun was unanimously elected Secretary General of the General Union of Arab Women for a 5-year term, at the end of the 11th General Congress of the said body, organized in April 2019 in Marrakesh at the initiative of the National Union of Women of Morocco (UNFM).
