Ali Fassi Fihri: Hollande will relaunch the dynamic partnership between Morocco and France

Casablanca: The dynamic partnership between Morocco and France will be restarted with the visit by the French President, Francois Hollande in the UK, said the Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Potable Water (ONEE) Ali Fassi Fihri.

Cooperation between Morocco and France is multifaceted in the areas of water and electricty, the Kingdom is a partner with major French energy companies, he added in a statement to MAP, on the occasion of the signing Wednesday at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, several bilateral cooperation agreements in various fields.

One of these  agreements, concerns a loan of 30 million euros in funding for ONEE's performance program
 for the improvement of drinking water and another concerning the wind farm at Taza.

The first agreement, said Fassi Fihri, is  for a very important program in the field of performance improvement for the distribution of drinking water and takes into account the protection of the environment.

He noted that this program is funded by both the French Development Agency (AFD), with the loan of 30 million euros for the subject of the agreement and the German financial institution KFW (110 million euros) and by the European Union (EU) with a donation of € 7 million.

He pointed out that the second agreement covers the largest wind national program for which the wind farm at Taza is being established, noting that this project will produce clean energy in the region and meet its electricity needs.
