Speaking at the opening session of the 8th German-African Energy Forum, the Minister stressed the special relations of Morocco with sub-Saharan Africa and their role in the emergence of a strong, lasting, and mutually beneficial partnership.

In this context, he stressed the importance of energy worldwide, focusing on the "serious concerns" that causes exhaustion. "The energy has never been a central issue as today, due to a marked depletion," he noted, stressing the vital need for the energy transition.

Outlining the energy situation at the national level, Amara said Morocco's need for primary energy increased by an average of nearly 5 per cent in recent years, driven by the growth in electricity consumption which increased by 6.5 pc per annum.
