Libreville - HM King Mohammed VI is strongly committed, amid the global coronavirus health crisis, to fighting the spread of this pandemic in Africa, by proposing an inter-African solidarity-based approach, said a press release from the Embassy of Morocco in Gabon. In this document distributed to the press on the occasion of the celebration, on May 25th, of Africa Day, the Moroccan diplomatic representation stressed that the celebration coincides this year with the world health crisis linked to Covid-19 which urged African states to decree quarantine restrictions to protect populations.

It recalled in this regard the proposal of HM King Mohammed VI of the launch of an initiative by African heads of state, aimed at establishing an operational framework in order to support African countries in their different phases of management of the pandemic, noting that this royal initiative was seen as very interesting at the continental and international levels. The royal proposal "constitutes the testimony of the strong and sincere commitment of Morocco towards Africa and its populations, in accordance with the vision of HM King Mohammed VI who has always placed the African citizen at the center of his concerns", underlined the Embassy of Morocco in Gabon. It recalled the multiple projects initiated by the Kingdom, under the leadership of the Sovereign, in several African countries in the field of human development, noting that these projects are intended to meet the essential and urgent needs of the populations, in particular in the areas of health, training and poverty alleviation. "An attitude reflecting Morocco's commitment to the emergence of an independent, strong, prosperous and united Africa," the statement said.
