"Discussions with the UN experts were significant and focused on the work done and the difficulties encountered," the minister told MAP on the sidelines of the discussions in Geneva of Morocco's initial report under the international Convention for the protection of migrant workers.

According to Souhail, the international experts hailed the quality of work done in Morocco in the field of migration and the high-level delegation that came to present the report of the Kingdom.

He expressed confidence that the Royal guidelines of His Majesty King Mohamed VI on the issue of migration, on the occasion of the presentation of the report of the National Council for Human Rights on the matter, "fall within the desire to improve our migration policy."

The members of the Moroccan delegation, he noted, are willing to answer the questions raised by the committee on measures aimed to protect migrant workers and their families "to refute certain unfounded allegations presented as pieces of information."

The Moroccan delegation to this session of the Committee is composed of Abdelouahed Souhail, Mahjoub El Haiba, Inter-ministerial Delegate for Human Rights, and Omar Hilale, Ambassador Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations in Geneva, as well as representatives of various departments and agencies concerned.
