Upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Benkirane was greeted by Aden Duale, MP and chairman of the parliamentary majority in Kenya and Abdelilah Benryane , Morocco's ambassador in Nairobi.

Benkirane is accompanied by AbderrahimCheikhi, advisor to the head of government and Omar Ait Salah, head of protocol to the Prime Minister.

Kenyatta, son of the first president of independent Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta, was declared by the Independent Electoral Commission of Presidential winner on 4 March, obtaining 50.07 percent of the votes in the first round and only 8,000 votes over the bar for the absolute majority required by the Constitution.

Kenyatta (51 years) is the fourth president of independent Kenya after Jomo Kenyatta (1963-1978), Moi (1978-2002) and Mwai Kibaki (2002-2013). He led with his running mate and current Vice President-elect William Ruto the Jubilee coalition formed mainly by National Alliance (TNA) party and the Democratic Forum (UDF). He is also considered as one of the politicians who is most visible and one of the main leaders of the largest community of the country, the Kikuyu.

About 13 million Kenyans voted in the 4 March polls to elect their president, deputies, senators, governors, members of the Departmental Assembly and a quota for women in the National Assembly. Elections were carefully observed by the international community, since they are a political test for the first decisive economic power in East Africa.
