Security incidents are increasing to such an extent that fear begins to mount that violent incidents perpetrated by Salfisits look to be on the increase again according to a report in the Algerian daily newspaper Liberte.

The newspaper reports an attack  on two Italian tourists last Wednesday in Zarzis, a coastal city located southeast of Tunisia  and two Spanish girls a few days ago in Nabeul, and the killing of a Belgian in a studio in Hammamet

All the ingredients are there to prove that Tunisia may return to  Salafist violence, Liberte remarks. On  Saturday, suspected Salafists attacked a police station in northern Tunisia, while others have prevented at a theatre in the centre of the country. At Siliana on Friday night, a dozen Salafists chased a man who, they said, had "insulted God" before he  took  refuge in a police station. One of the officers who witnessed the incident  and preferred to remain anonymous said :  "They attacked the station  which was partly burned. We asked for reinforcements, the army came, and Salafists threw stones at them and ransacked a car. Three Salafists were arrested, "said the policeman.
