A Moroccan and an Algerian suspected members of Al Qaeda arrested in Spain

Madrid CNN: Two suspected members of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), an Algerian and one Moroccan orifine, were arrested by the Spanish police, according to the announcement by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Tuesday, 23 April.

They are, in fact,  Nou Mediouni , of Algerian origin, and Hassan El Jaaouani, originally from Morocco,who were arrested respectively in Zaragoza (north) and Murcia (south-east), following an investigation conducted jointly with the French and Moroccan police, the ministry said.

However, and according to the Spanish daily El Pais, the Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez "did not confirm if the two prisoners have relations between them contrary to what police sources said." And the source added: "Other legal sources have reported that it is difficult to argue that the two are members of a jihadist cell, but they visited web pages of radical Islamists."

For its part, the AFP said that the two arrested men "have no connection with this attack," and that both must appear in court Thursday the National Court in Madrid in charge of terrorism cases.
