22 Feature Films and 115 Short Films Produced in 2019, CCM

Tangier - Twenty feature films were produced in Morocco for the year 2019, among which thirteen benefited from an advance on earnings estimated at more than 50 million dirhams, according to the annual report of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM). The year 2019 was marked by the production of 22 feature films, 115 short films, 39 television series, 20 TV films, 125 commercials and 18 documentaries, said the CCM on Saturday in Tangier during a press conference, a few hours before the end of the 21st edition of the Tangier National Film Festival. Regarding foreign production, 22 feature films were shot in Morocco with a budget of more than 265 million dirhams, a drop of 17.63% compared to the previous year, said the report, adding that 16 foreign television series have also been filmed in the Kingdom for an investment exceeding 500 Mln MAD.

743 filming authorizations were granted to Moroccan productions and 668 to foreign productions shot in Morocco, added the same source. In addition, admissions to cinemas reached 1,883,425 people, generating 92,977,422 Mln MAD box office receipts, against 73,124,217 in 2018, the report said. Five Moroccan films, "Messaoud, Saida et Saadane", "Taxi bied", "Cambodia", "Ils sont grands et ne peuvent quitter le nid familial" and "Braquage à la marocaine" were classified at the box office of the top 30 films.
