The event, which will bring together government officials from both sides, follows the previous high level meeting which was held on Oct. 3, 2012 in Rabat and attended by a strong Spanish delegation led by Rajoy.

A Moroccan-Spanish business forum is scheduled on the sidelines of this important meeting by the Moroccan employers' association CGEM and its Spanish counterpart CEOE with the aim of exploring means and ways to strengthen economic cooperation. The two countries signed in 1991 a friendship, good neighborliness and cooperation treaty, and were committed to make headway with their strategic partnership through holding regular meetings on the different matters of shared interest.

This tendency was reflected in the rise of Spanish exports to Morocco to 1.387 billion euros in 2015's first quarter, posting an increase of 1.5% year-on-year, according to figures released by Spain's economy and competitiveness ministry.

Some 1,000 Spanish enterprises, notably small and medium-sized enterprises, operating in the different sectors had already gained a foothold in Morocco.
